Set up store & warehouse

Setting up your stores

Sales channels represent the different platforms and locations where you sell your products. By adding each sales channel to Green Story, you can manage the processing and communication for orders from all of the channels for footprint and offsets and aggregate these statistics by sales channels.

1. Click on the "company" tab from the left navigation menu

2. Under company, click on sales channels

3. There are three types of sales channels. You can provide details as per the stores you own.

  1. Ecommerce store: All online sales channels which are owned by you. This includes both retail and wholesale stores
    • Navigate to ecommerce store from the secondary menu item and click on "Add new"
The add form is divided in two parts. The first part covers store details like the store name, the country or region it is used for and whether the store’s channel is of type retail or wholesale. The second part covers information around store configuration which defines the type of ecommerce platform store is built on and how to integrate with that store. Based on the type of ecommerce platform Green Story expects a specific format for product and order related events so that it can transform and convert it into standard format for processing.
    • Input the store name
    • Choose whether the store's channel is a retail or a wholesale
    • Choose if you want to make this store your default store.
Note: This will be used for populating the default store when placing an order directly via Green Story
    • Select location of the store
Note: This will be used to identify the primary selling region of the store and for the company to distinguish among multiple stores
    • Add store integration configuration: This defines the type of ecommerce platform store is built on and how to integrate with that store.
      • Select ecommerce platform provider from the dropdown for direct integration.
      • Input your store domain which acts as a unique identifier for the store
    • Add store shipping configuration: An ecommerce store can ship products to customers from multiple locations depending on the distribution centres and warehouses it has to serve that country/region. This configuration defines which exact ‘From’ location to use to calculate shipping distance to customers.
      • Select applicable warehouses and drop shipping locations.
Warehouse assignment configuration: A product can be shipped from one of the warehouses/drop shipping locations assigned to the store. For each store, there is a configuration about what to do if no warehouse information is available in the order API/form. You can either use the store's default warehouse or auto assign the warehouse
    • Add store communication configuration: This configuration relates to aspects of communicating with your customers. Depending upon the primary business area of the store there are two main items which needs to be configured.
      • Choose languages which the store supports for its communication. All Green Story assets for this store (widgets, emails, hosted pages etc.) would be made available in these languages for the store's customers.
      • Choose the "from" email address which will be used for all emails sent to customers for orders placed from this store.
    • Add store sync configuration: This setting determines whether Green Story should process new product and order events for this store. If turned off, all products and orders are rejected/discarded.
    • Once you've added the details, click on "Preview & submit" button on the top right or bottom right corner of the screen
    • On the preview screen, make sure everything looks good and click on "submit"
    • Your store gets added to the list

  2. Physical store: All physical sales channels which are owned by you. This includes both retail and wholesale stores.
    • Navigate to the physical store from the secondary menu item and click on "add new"
    • Link your ecommerce store to the physical store, which will then apply all of the ecommerce store’s configurations to the physical store.
    • Input the store name
    • Choose whether the store's channel is a retail or a wholesale
    • Choose if you want to make this store your default store.
    • Select location of the store
    • Add shipping address for the store
    • Once you've added the details, click on "Preview & submit" button on the top right or bottom right corner of the screen
    • On the preview screen, make sure everything looks good and click on "submit"
    • Your store gets added to the list

  3. Marketplace: All 3rd party online sales channels where your products are sold.

Add warehouse

Warehouse represents in-between distribution centres or final facilities from where products are shipped to consumers. Warehouse location is essential to calculate the average footprint of a product from cradle to gate or cradle to grave and to calculate the real-time footprint/offset of shipping items to consumers.

1. Click on the "company" tab from the left navigation menu

2. Under company, click on buildings.

3. Select warehouses from the list on the left and click on "add new" button

4. Input name of the warehouse

5. Input code for the warehouse. Warehouse code is required to determine which warehouse the product was shipped from. You can provide your own code or autogenerate the code via autogenerate action link.

6. Select warehouse channel type

7. Input the location of the warehouse

8. Once you've added the details, click on "Preview & submit" button on the top right or bottom right corner of the screen

9. On the preview screen, make sure everything looks good and click on "submit"

10. Your warehouse gets added to the list
